Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition Hard Cover. This novel was written by Richard Bachman which is a pseudonym for Stephen King. King wrote several other books under this name such as 'Thinner'. The novel is a First Edition and a First Printing with the number 0996 at the bottom of the inside front flap. It is in Near Fine condition with two very small spots on the front board. The corners are square and the textblock is pristine. There is a very, very, light pencil line to the bottom edge and it is almost invisible. The dustjacket is also very near fine and only shows some tiny shelf wear to the top of the spine panel. It will probably dissappear when I place the book in an archival Brodart protector before shipment. The dustjacket is not price-clipped. This is a great copy of this First Edition. They say that 'Richard Bachman' is 'Stephen King Without a conscience'. 'The Regulators' is the story of a suburban neighborhood in the grip of surreal horror. The mayhem rages around a darkened house lit fitfully from within by a flickering television screen. Inside, things have not been normal for a long time. By the time night falls on Poplar Street, the surviving residents will find themselves in another world. It is a world where anything, no matter how terrible, is possible, and where the Regulators are on their way. How far they will go, and how they can be stopped are the desparate questions. The answers are absolutely terrifying.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. New York, Dutton, 1996. First edition. First printing (with full number line including 1). Hardbound. Fine in a fine jacket. A clean tight copy, very fresh and bright. Publisher's price intact on front jacket flap ($24.95). Comes with archival-quality mylar jacket protector. Smoke-free. "Mirror novel" to Stephen King's *Desperation*. All first state points present, i.e., 0996 date code on lower front jacket. flap. Published simultaneously with King's "Desperation." Jacket art by Mark Ryden. "Desperation" and The Regulators" represent parallel universes relative to one another, and most of the characters present in one novel's world also exist in the other novel's reality, albeit in different circumstances. The hardcover first editions of each novel, if set side by side, make a complete painting, and on the back of each cover is also a peek at the opposite's cover. King had previously "killed off" Bachman after the pseudonym was publicly exposed around the time of the 1984 release of the Bachman novel Thinner. However, on the book's jacket and in a tongue-in-cheek introduction by the book's editor, it was alleged that this 1996 work was written by Bachman years earlier, but the manuscript had only recently been discovered by his widow in a trunk.
